Bludgeoned
Bludgeoned are an extreme Metal band from Augsburg, Germany trying to create something new by combining Jazz theory with the raw power of Death Metal. The sound of that may put some people off - but its all about being loud and being Metal, so its worth checking out (IMHO)!

Skin Peeled
During the recording session for Bludgeoned To Death we recorded our 'jam track' Skin Peeled in one take featuring improvised solos by each member of the band - now available as a free download for your enjoyment :) Get It Here.
EP title
We've decided to call the EP 'Bludgeoned To Death'. That just leaves the artwork and the distribution to be sorted out :)
Recording Done
Finally done! :) Its all mixed and mastered and ready to go. We're very very very pleased with how its turned out - and a HUGE thank-you to Rene who was amazing in recording, mixing, mastering and advising us. All that's left for us to do is come up with a name for the EP, get some cover artwork done and find someone to distribute it for us. Suggestions on a postcard, please ;)
Recording almost done
Hey everyone :) We've almost finished recording the new EP ... just a couple of bass tracks and the dirty vocals to go, then mixing, mastering and releasing it into the wild |m| Cheers, C

Bludgeoned at Rock For You
Bludgeoned will be appearing at the Rock For You concert weekend at the Donauwörther Juze. The event is in support of the Glühwürmchen eV. We participated in the previous version of this event which was a huge success and managed to raise loads of money for this good cause - we're hoping this time round will be an even bigger success! So please come along and support not only us but also a great cause ;)
Recording Delayed
We've decided to delay the recording for a month so we can work on the new material a little bit more. No date has been set, but we're aiming to get started in April.
New recordings in March
Bludgeoned will be going into the studio for the first time mid-march. All previous recordings were done DIY, so this should result in the first quality recordings of our material :). The dates have tentatively been set for 15/16 March. We'll be recording at Rene's studio here in Bäumenheim. I'm intending on bringing the camcorder and posting video blogs of the progress ... lets see if that actually happens ;)
Slight site reorg
After discovering yesterday that some people haven't found the EP recordings and had only heard the earlier stuff, I've decided to slightly reorganise the site in an attempt to let people here the newest stuff first.
Instead of downloading the EP as a zip, you can now download the individual songs right from the front page and the same listing is available in the Media section.

Peter Stapfer Interviews
I had the amazing opportunity to interview Peter Stapfer - one of the co-founders of Diezel - recently and got to ask him about himself, the company, their products, his philsophy and I even got to jam with him briefly at the end. Not only is he an talented amp and cabinet maker, he's also a gifted guitarist :) I've posted the first part of the interview series to YouTube for your enjoyment :)
I chanced upon a satanic listing in my YouTube summary - Goofin' on Here To Stay had been viewed exactly 666 times :)
Vids of the 8
Finally got round to posting some vids of the Blackmachine 8 on YouTube (http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=CliveJevons): Harvester and Self Indulgent Jam. Enjoy :)
Added pictures of the 8
Finally got round to taking some pictures of my awesome new 8 string guitar :) Enjoy ;)
The 8 string is here!
I took receipt of my first eight string guitar today :) Its from Blackmachine - a one man company in London also known as Doug. Amazing! This thing is built better than anything else I've ever seen. And it goes very loooooow - which is the whole point of having that extra string :D. I'll be doing some video footage of it fairly soon and posting it. I might also do episode 8 of MRG - seems fitting ;).
EP 'The Bludgeoning' for free download
I've decided to release our EP into the wild - for free! We just haven't found the time to get round to finishing it off or publishing it in any meaninful way physically, so its now readily available for anyone to download. You may also copy and distribute the EP freely, but the EP may NOT be SOLD in full or in part without the expressed written consent of the band.
Check This Band Out!
You just HAVE to check out this band: Pavor. The most exciting musical thing I've heard all year :).
First Bludgeoned wallpaper
I was tinkering around with Gimp a bit and came up with a wallpaper which I thought I'd share with you: Bludgeoned - Härter, Schneller, Tiefer.
As promised - MRG7
Metal Rythm Guitar 7 is here already! Had a little play with iMovie while doing it - so get ready for some nifty editing, too! :) Check our Media Page for the episode.
New Metal Rythm Guitar
FINALLY I've gotten round to recording and editing the next Metal Rythm Guitar episode in our tutorial series - sorry of the long wait! This time I talk about odd timings, what they are, how they are used in our music, how to play them and how you might want to go about using them in your own music.
To make up for the long wait, I'm going to endeavour to get the next episode up really quickly. (I'm not promising anything, mind ;)).
Erste Bilder aus Pfäfflingen
Linde hat uns einen Link zu den Bildern geschickt die er bei unserem Pfäfflinger Auftritt gemacht hat. Danke :)
Videos of Top Act gig
I've added two videos of our Top Act 2007 performance ein Pfäfflingen. Eradicate Religion and Ocular Cavity Urination. Enjoy :)
DANKE!
So - Top Act 2007 ist für Bludgeoned vorbei. Und WAS FÜR EIN GIG!
Vote For Metal!
A call out to all Metal Heads in the Nord Schwaben region: come out to the Rieser Tanzhalle in Pfäfflingen this Saturday and VOTE FOR METAL!
Top Act 2007
Bludgeoned will be taking part in Top Act 2007. Its the local Battle of the Bands round these parts. We'll be playing on the 17th of March in Pfäfflingen. There should be flyers in and all around Donauwörth by now and there are ads running in the local Radio station RT1 promoting it.
Due to the slots being drawn on the evening, we've no idea yet exactly when we'll be playing. But please come down and vote for us.
Also, on the 3rd of March Sigma will be playing in Donauwörth and on the 31st of March Hassliebe will be playing in Dillinging. If you're up for it, then check them out to an VOTE FOR METAL!
You can find out more at http://www.rt1-nordschwaben.de/index_neu.html?cat=7&topact=1.
Photos of the gig
After trawling the net for a while - I've found some! :) Check out http://www.scissabob.de - go to Music Pics and then "konzert - juze donauwörth". Then scroll through to the end - pics of us from 77 onwards.
What a gig!
Hey folks. I just about feel human again! What a gig!! Thanks to everyone who was there. Also a huge thanks to Bribbe and Franz for organising the whole thing - you guys did a tremendous job! Thanks to everyone backstage who helped everything go off as smoothely as it did. For those who don't know - the gig was in benefit of the Glühwürmchen ev. who support kids with cancer and other serious illnesses. It was great that we were able to contribute a little bit towards that end, and I sincerely thank Bribbe and Franz for giving us that opportunity.
Oct 14
Right - I have a little bit more info. We're going on last on the 14th of Oct which should be around 00:30. Also, we've been asked to prepare a 45 minute set - plente of time for metallic carnage to ensue!
Donauwörth Sampler
Bribbe and his crew are putting together a sampler of loads of Donauwörther bands (12 at present). This is HUGE for our local music scene. We're going to be on it too :) Also - they're organising an event on the 13th and 14th of October to launch the sampler where as many of the bands as possible will be playing. We've been given the honour of headling the second day (14th of October) - so make sure to come along and bring your headbanging gear with you! More details as and when :)
Tutorial Series - 5
The next episode of 'Hack and Slash Editing gone wild' otherwise known as Metal Rythm Guitar is now online. This time I'm talking about using one note melodies embedded in riffs.
Tutorial Series - 4
Part 4 of the Metal Rythm Guitar Tutorial Series is now online. For those who haven't checked out the tutorial series yet, just a reminder that you need a player capable of H.264 encoding such as Apple's QuickTime 7.
Bludgeoned music feat. in short film
Lauren used parts of Annihilate and Combat The Hatred in a short film. You can check it out at YouTube. Maybe I'm biased due to the sound track, but I LIKE it :).
Spiritual Decay album release imminent
Our good Metal Buddies Spiritual Decay will be releasing their first album in their new formation shortly. Check our there site for details.
Added Merch Page
I've activated the merchandise page. Basically, it lists what we have available and how much it will cost you. The easiest thing is to pick up any of the mentioned items at one of our gigs, but we will also ship them if you prefer - details of how much this will cost are on the page. I'll try and get pictures of the T-shirts up real soon - just have to find some willing models first ;) If you already have a Bludgeoned T-shirt and fancy modelling it for our site, then contact us here. (If you don't yet have a T-shirt, but would like to model anyway I'm sure that could be arranged, too!)
Bug in RSS feed fixed
I discovered I had a bug in the rss feed code. I hadn't taken funny German characters into account. Thas was preventing the RSS feed from being rendered. Should work now I hope.
Tutorial Series - 3
The third installment is here. I'm finally getting them down to the kind of length I was envisioning - lets hope I can keep it to this size from here on out :) In this episode I talk about pinch harmonics - or squeels - and how I use them in Bludgeoned's music.
Tutorial Series - 2
As the muse had bit me, I've already done part 2 of the tutorial series. In this episode I talk about some alternative power chord voicings and show you how to play the first riff in Hypocrisy.
Tutorial Series
I'm finally getting around to doing something that I've been wanting to do for ages - do a video tutorial series on various aspects of my playing. I'm going to start with rythm guitar techniques. The first episode is up in the Media Section entitled Metal Rythm Guitar - Part 1 - The Basics. This first episode is quite long - but I'll be keeping subsequent episodes shorter and they will concentrate on only one aspect of playing.
I'm also hoping to get some tutorials with the other guys online, so keep checking back or subscribe to our RSS feed.
Bludgeoned On MySpace
I finally got round to adding our band profile to MySpace.com. Its all the rage now, don't you know? :) Bludgeoned at MySpace.
More vids
I've just added Unprovoked Abuse as a MOV download to the media section. Enjoy ;)
Bludgeoned DVD
The gig at the Donauwörther Juze has been made into a DVD. You can get a copy for a mere 10 Euro (+ PnP). Contact us here to secure your copy.
First video online
I've just uploaded the first Bludgeoned video! Its a recording of Hypocrisy made at the Don Juze on the 24th Feb 2006. I'll be adding two or three more videos over the next few days. Check the Video section on the media page.
Bludgeoned T-Shirts
One thing I forgot to mention at the gig was that we now have our own T-Shirts!!! Finally some quality Bludgeoned merchandising :) The logo reads 'feeling Bludgeoned'. Its red lettering on black Tees. Shirts are available in S, M (ooer), L and XL. Cost is 12 Euro - without PnP. We haven't got the whole postal distribution sorted out yet, but I'll post details as soon as we have. For now, if you live near any of us (that's any of Fünfstetten, Asbach-Bäumenheim or Augsburg), then just drop me a line and we'll see if we can arrange a hand-off :) I'm also planning a new merchandise section on the site which will feature the T-shirts and our nearly ready EP - The Bludgeoning. Keep your eyes peeled!
Don Gig Postmortem
Well, if it proved one thing, then its that metal is NOT dead :) It was a great evening - although it ran later than anyone had hoped or planned for.
Thanks to the Gländermosher, Spiritual Decay, Deviated Presence and Hidden In The Fog! All of which provided some awsome metal infusion for the starved and baying fans present on the night.
Thanks to everyone in the audience who moshed it up! and made it a more enjoyable night for us onstage. And, of course, also a big thanks to everyone in the audience who came to watch - I hope you enjoyed it as much as we did!
Thanks also to Jo, who videoed the ongoings for prosperities sake - I'll be posting some of the footage as soon as I can.
A HUGE thanks also to Philipp and everyone else at the Donauwörther Juze for putting on the show and providing all of us metal heads with a chance to celebrate our music.
An equally HUGE thanks to Double and his merry lads for providing so much of the gear which ensured a truly thunderous sonic experience (and provided the drums on the night without which it would have been a rather sorry affair ;)).
All in all we were very pleased with this gig - probably the best one so far! Hopefully we'll be inflicting our particular brand of metal on a venue near you soon!
Great Online Game
A colleague sent me this link. Its a game about killing zombies along with some superb music to do this to ;).
Online Presence
I've just updated the songs on SoundClick and added us to GarageBand. Not sure whether anyone will actually listen to any of our stuff from there - but its worth a try :) If anyone knows of any other online band sites we should definitely be on, please let me know.
EP Recording Has Started
Today we started recording songs for our forthcoming EP. We're aiming to have five songs on the EP, so we've recorded drum tracks to nine of our songs. We'll then choose the five best :) I'll keep people posted on our progress, of course.
MP3 Update
I haven't added any new songs - but I've retracked the bass and guitars on the Hypocrisy, Give Me Suffering and Once Innocent. I also changed the mix a bit - to my ears it now sounds better, but judge for yourself and give them a spin :)
Bio on Gländermosher Homepage
Our biography (in German - thanks to Hirschi for correcting it!) is up on the Gländermosher web site. http://www.glaendermosher.de/index.php?gnav=inb&gmid=inb_bludgeoned
Don Juze Gig Date
The date for the Don Juze gig has been confirmed - 24th February. Hope to see you there :)
Headliner for Don gig
Philipp (Don Juze Chap) has come through in GRAND style for us :) He's managed to snag Hidden In The Fog (http://www.hiddeninthefog.de) for us as a headlining act for our Feb Don Juze gig. Details of exactly when where and how will be posted in due course as everything is confirmed.
Circus Photos
We didn't have anyone of our lot take photos, but you can find some shots of the event at http://www.cityreporter.de/ and here http://www.happy-friends.de/4images/. Armin from the venue said we'd be getting a CD with some of the shots at a later date, so if and when I'll post some here.
Circus Gig Postmortem
A hugely enjoyable experience on the whole! The guys from SepcyS we're not only great musicians who put on an awesome show, but they're also great people who we got along with great - really hope we manage to get to return the favour in the form of a gig in Ulm.
Thanks must go to Armin (the guy who runs the Circus) for giving us the great opportunity to play there. Thanks also to Achim who mixed the bands on the night and did a great job. Thanks to everyone who showed up and supported SepcyS and ourselves! Thanks to SepcyS for putting on a great show and being all-round great guys!
A special thanks to Rich from Cosmic Casino for helping us get the gig there! And a special shout out to Töni from CC - great to see you there!
The Bludgeoned gigging machine is up and rolling and I hope its not too long before we get to bludgeon some more unsuspecting souls soon :)
Circus Gig
Well, the day of the gig is upon us. We've had a bit of trouble with Bastie getting ill, closely followed by Mess. Thankfully I've remained relatively unscathed so far :)
Here are just a few more infos for those interested: we're sound checking from around 5:30pm. Sepcys will be going on at around 9pm, we'll be going on at around 10pm.
Entry should be five Euros at the door.
I'm really looking forward to this gig - should be a great laugh at any rate! :D Hope to see you there!
A report will be posted here after, of course ;)
Pictures Added
We did a photo shoot yesterday - some band shots and some of us practising. I've uploaded them to the Media section. All photos taken and copyrighted by Joanna Jevons.
Gig Photos Up
I've added a selection of photos which Jo took during the 01.10.2005 Gig at the Bäumenheimer Juze to the Media section. Just click on photos in the content listing and then on the link to the B'heim gig.
Thanks!
A huge THANK YOU to everyone who came to the Bäumenheim gig. It was so great to see so many of you there. We had a blast of a time, and we hope you enjoyed it too!
Special thanks also to Double for lending us some of the PA equipment, for selling us great gear over the years and also for just being a great chap and supporting live music so consistently in the area.
Thanks must also go to the guys and gals from the Bäumenheim Juze for letting us play there - without them we wouldn't of had a venue to play in!
Special thank to Rene for mixing us on the day and for providing some great tips on getting the sound right!
A huge 'Hell Yeah!' to the Gländermosher for providing substantial METAL on the night and also for supporting the event! You guys rule!
Thanks also to my darling wife Jo who has taken some great pictures of the event, and I'll be posting them here soon!
Thanks also to my brothers in 2nd Life Decay for putting on a great show and providing the first half of the live entertainment - I love you guys!
Thanks to all of Bastie's mates who made it to the gig and who's vehement moshing antics made the gig so much more enjoyable!
We had a great time on the night - our first gig ever! We're already looking forward to the next gig and hope to see you all there :) I'll be posting details to this site as usual!
Hungry Web Designer
Keith Williams designed this web site. He's an absolutely amazing artist. If you have any work you want doing on a web site - or any artwork you want designing - or you want some album cover art doing - then you could do a lot worse than getting in touch with Keith. Here's his spiel: Keith's love of art and design soon eclipsed his academic training as an historian, and he has devoted the year after graduation to improving his artistic skills, and gaining experience of using them professionally. He has recently worked for several cult underground metal bands, including GORE, Vae Solis and Beyond Redemption, with current commissions from The Enchanted and Dreaming of Dragons. Keith works digitally in Adobe Photoshop on a Dell Dimension 4500 with a Wacom Intuous II A4 tablet.
